Disciples of Verity release third single ‘In My Eyes’ from sophomore album NEXUS.

2019 saw Disciples of Verity break onto the metal scene with debut single ‘Worthy’, setting the tone for their unique approach to metal. Hailed as a new breed of crossover metal, elements of alt rock, hardcore, metal core, power metal unite with the musical histories of this supergroup to create a product that is familiar, but equally distinct from their previous work.

Ushering in a new age of supergroup, Disciples of Verity is fronted by the iconic Living Colour singer Corey Glover, with a powerhouse rhythm section from drummer Corey Pierce (God Forbid) and George Pond (Swim The Current, Negative Sky) on bass, brought together by guitar from Mark Monjoy (Second Skyn) and Zack Miranowic (Second Skin, Reversed).

An eagerly-awaiting audience of fans from across their mutual projects were drip-fed 8 tracks over 8 months in the run up to debut album Pragmatic Sanction, featuring a litany of guest appearances from modern metal powerhouses including Morgan Rose (Sevendust), Phil Demmel (Machine Head).

August 15th brought us the latest instalment from Disciples of Verity’s sophomore studio album NEXUS. Anchored by the same thundering drums and driving syncopation as ‘Break The Cycle’, Disciples of Verity build on the cinematic soundscape of ‘Thread The Needle’ with the introspective ‘In My Eyes’.

An immediate draw for audiences is the distinctive, powerful voice of Corey Glover (Living Colour), whose undeniable versatility lends itself perfectly to this venture. Glover describes this track as an exploration of perspective, and how it influences our outlook on the world, our daily struggles, and our personal battles - now and in the future - urging the importance of community and shared experience.

‘At its core, the song is about finding unity, empathy, and closure by learning to see the world through the eyes of others.’

The common thread between the band, Pond played with each artist across their various other outside of Disciples of Verity. His influence on the project is obivious, with the signature contrast and atmosphere of his work with Swim The Current. The push and pull between the nostalgic, wistful and anthemic chorus against the heavy, rhythmic, metalcore verses takes listeners on a journey through sub-generes. In My Eyes was produced by Pond and Sahaj Ticotin (Motley Crue, Nikki Six, Sevendust, New Years Day). Ticotin’s belief ‘melody is the center of the universe in my studio’ shines through in his work with Disciples of Verity, with an uncompromising groove and flow in the face of powerful, leading instruments.

Fans of Sevendust, Alter Bridge, and Beartooth may revel in ‘In My Eyes’ and the strength of Disciples of Verity’s wider discography for their use of melodic hooks, paired with thick, heavy riffs, showcasing an abundance of musical skill and technical complexity.

‘In My Eyes’ is now available on all streaming platforms, with a lyric video out now on YouTube.
