Mammoth WVH first UK Headline Gigs: One Year On

July of 2024 saw Mammoth (previously Mammoth WVH) perform their first UK headline shows, a duo of sold-out dates at O2 Institute 2 Birmingham and O2 Academy Islington supported by The Dust Coda.

Fans of classic rock powerhouses, like AC/DC and KISS, may enjoy the blues-rock of The Dust Coda, who were a seamless match with Mammoth’s iconic sound.

Mammoth’s set saw fan favourites ‘You’re To Blame’, ‘Epiphany’ and ‘Don’t Back Down’ from their debut album, as well as ‘Right?’, ‘Another Celebration at the End of the World’ and lesser-played tracks from Mammoth II. To hear more abut the night, see the photo-review from the night here.

Since their time in the UK, Mammoth has shown us they have been working on new music. Single ‘The End’ gives us a teaser for mammoth III. The intro alone stands strong: a heavy, garage sound underscoring an indulgent tapping solo, once the trademark of Eddie Van Halen and now Wolfgang’s own. The intro descends into funk-infused guitar and bass lines, with the chorus acting as a brief reprieve from the instrumental focus of the track to showcase Wolfgang’s clean and powerful vocals, otherwise surrounded by rhythmic and intricate writing to remind you of the virtuoso status of the band members.

The music video accompanying the track is no less impressive: bookended with references to Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’, filled with supernatural icons from horror-comedy cult-favourites ‘Dusk ‘till Dawn’ and ‘Dog Soliders’, and star-studded with appearances from the rest of Mammoth, Guns ’n’ Roses’ Slash and Alter Bridge’s Myles Kennedy to name a few. It would be impossible to discuss this video without mentioning Wolfgang’s table walk - a sweet and subtle tribute to his father that fans have adored. The reveal at the end only adds to the irony, comedy and intricacy of the Mammoth Cinematic Universe, showing a showdown between Wolfgang and himself over the new band lineup - a genius callback to videos for ‘Don’t Back Down’ and ‘Another Celebration at the End of the World’.

With the release of second single ‘The Spell’, Mammoth are currently on tour across America supporting Creed. Hopefully, 2026 will see them return to the UK with a tour or festival appearances.
